The context
Mixmove is a logistics & supply chain management software company with a strong focus on efficiency and sustainability. During the redesign of the onboarding flow, the product designer in charge of the project invited me to create a new illustration style that would integrate seamlessly into the new minimalistic, modern UI.
The challenge
The goal was to create a set of new illustrations that felt coherent with both the redesigned UI and the existing iconography already used across the product.
The illustrations had to represent Mixmove’s values of sustainability and smart logistics while remaining relevant and functional in the onboarding process without overtaking too much of the user’s attention.
The approach
I began by researching the brand and analyzing the updated UI, with a particular focus on the existing iconography. The icons were line-based, using a simple palette of gray and green, often featuring natural elements and trucks, central to their work. This analysis guided me to create illustrations that felt like a natural extension of the icons, rather than a separate visual language.
From there, I gathered references and sketched concepts combining visual symbols of the business: trees and the globe, already familiar in the brand’s icons, and the trucks as the central element. I designed the illustrations with shapes inspired by the icons themselves, ensuring seamless integration with the UI.
Results and Impact
The project resulted in a set of four onboarding illustrations that helped the user navigate the onboarding process while reinforcing the brand’s values: functional, sustainability-focused, and smart. The process was efficient, requiring only two client meetings: one to align on the chosen direction and another for delivery.
My Role
I was responsible for designing the illustration style and creating the final assets, presenting and justifying design decisions directly to the client. I worked closely with the product designer to ensure smooth integration into the UI. Tools used: Figma and Illustrator.
